Meet the Doula

My name is Cheyann! I am a woman of God, a wife, and a full time mommy to two amazing boys. I was born and raised in the Bay Area and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from Cal State East Bay. For years I worked in hotel management where I specialized in creating memorable guest experiences for the VIP clients. Now I want to take those same principles and put them into my doula practice. My aim is to help birthing mamas feel seen, heard, understood and special during such an important, yet vulnerable time in their lives.

I first found my passion for pregnancy and childbirth by experiencing it for myself. I had two very different labor and delivery experiences. For my first child, I didn’t have a doula and both the labor and delivery were traumatizing! For my second child, I got smart. I hired an amazing doula and my labor & delivery was smoother, stressless and I felt like I had more of a voice and more control in the process. I felt empowered! It was a GAME CHANGER! Quite frankly, I felt like superwoman and now I aim to do the same thing for other women and help them feel just as good about their birth experience. I want to educate, support, empower and walk with mamas from prenatal to postpartum.

In addition to having a doula the second time around, the biggest contributor to my wonderful birth experience was PRAYER. The Bible tells us that we can pray about ANYTHING, but so often when it comes to pregnancy and childbirth we listen to and depend more on doctors, midwives and our own mamas than the CREATOR Himself. When I began to seek Him first in all things regarding my pregnancy and labor, everything was smoother. I wrote out specific prayers regarding my fears and doubts as labor grew near. I also prayed over my baby in detail. Prayer changes things - even in childbirth.

When I’m not working, I love spending time with family. My boys and I are always on the move. They keep me busy and in great shape. We love spending time outdoors, road trips and having our own worship concerts at home.

The Doula’d with Faith Difference

The difference between ‘Doula’d with Faith’ and other Doula practices is just that….faith. I believe that all babies are a gift from God and when He blesses a woman’s womb with new life, it should be celebrated. The journey of pregnancy should be exciting and enjoyable, but often times we hear more about nausea, discomfort, fear and pain. I believe it’s time to turn away from this culture of fear driven pregnancy and put the FAITH back in this journey. My prayer is that I might be able to assist mamas in experiencing Gods promises during pregnancy and throughout their labor. When you hire me, you aren't just getting a doula, you are gaining a prayer partner. I will be praying for you and with you from the start of our prenatal meetings until our postpartum visit.
